A place wherein this Dwarven Cleric can share his love of maps, dice, miniatures, and all things involving gaming and general geekery--not to mention the occasional witty non-gaming observations--whilst escaping from the humdrum existence of his routine Terran existence.

V is for Vesseth

Vesseth is well-known throughout Coldtreath, especially in the Lower Quarters. He is one of Coldtreath's nightsoil collectors. As such, it is not uncommon to see him prowling through the streets at all hours of the day or night.

Vesseth served some time in the Army, where he learned how to use a quarterstaff and a sling. Skills in the more advanced weapons completely eluded him. Despite his lack of training, he still fancies himself a mighty warrior, when in truth he is likely to be embarrassed if he was ever challenged.

He also fancies himself a thief, and an important part of Coldtreath's seedy, dark side. He is also very mistaken on this count: the true dark side of Coldtreath tolerates him because of his gross incompetence as a thief. Were he to ever show the slightest ability in that respect, his body would be found in pieces in the harbor. At best his attempts at thievery distract the Guard from the real crimes in Coldtreath.

Little is known about his family; he has told others that his family was disgusted and disgraced when he joined the Army and disowned him on that account. However, it is not known exactly where he was born and raised, and no one seems to have ever found out his family's name, so this information is viewed as unreliable at best. It is fully possible that he was disowned; returning home with a half-orc as a best friend tends to have that effect in polite society.

Of course, it is also possible that he was not disowned until after he became a nightsoil collector. It is not the most glamorous of professions, to be sure, even though he is good at it. It also has had an unfortunate effect on his appearance; not only is there an omnipresent miasma when Vesseth is about, the filth with which he works causes eruptions of ugly boils and pustules.
